“Ignorance can be cured but stupidity is eternal”, says 'the her'

I am currently enjoying the bedweather while reading Miriam Santiago’s 70th birthday offering--a book comprising all her intellectual statements. The title itself is very catchy as it connives (probably) with the recent ABS-CBN teleserye hit, Forevermore. Since I was a child, and when I got a glimpse of what politics means, her name was implanted right into my brain. My parents used to tell me that she could have been a good president because of her wit, courage and charisma. Never did I imagine how she actually looked like until I was Grade 3. Oh, and her face and aura, or shall I say ‘fashion sense’ has evolved grandly since then. I also recall the news that her son committed suicide because he did not pass or top the BAR exams (knowing that his mom, the great Miriam is a Juris Wizard). Most of all, I can clearly recall the MMK (ABS-CBN drama anthology) episode which featured her life story and her famous statement during one election: “I lied, hahahah”. She lied because on her previous interview, she told the media that she will jump off the airplane if Erap will become the victor of the Presidential elections. The latter actually won and the reporters were so excited to solicit her opinion. How candid and honest of her--she plainly lied.

I just love her (the way she talks in an ilonggo accent and the way she dresses and commands over the english language) but I don't want her as a mom. Well hypothetically if she becomes my mom, she might have all the rationale behind everything that is happening in the household. So better of forget the idea of imagining if she can take place of a mother. Maybe tita would be fine, I will surely be delighted to call her tita Merz.

Meanwhile, a friend of mine, Chad has caught my attention with his blatant exclamation at goodreads.com author’s profile.

Well, to be honest, she’s my bet too. How come so many people have not fought for her due winning during the presidential elections more than 2 decades ago, and now that she is battling Stage 4 Lung Carcinoma, a lot of political fans began to rally their support. After all, she said, stupidity (for some) is really eternal.
