WW3 insight: The war has already started a decade ago.

I would like to express my own thoughts. Well, I know I am protected by my right to express myself freely. This is my comment about the the maritime entitlement dispute that is kindling what most people reckon as World War 3. Sorry if this does not suit the post it is intended to be shared, but I just want to share what I feel.

During an impromptu contest when I was in high school, I remembered my statement: ‘it is a paradox that the Philippines is an extraordinarily rich country, yet most of our countrymen suffer from poverty, oppression and lack of enterprise". Indeed, maybe we were just too hospitable during the past decades that we had been so silent about our neighbors who are encroaching our exclusive economic zone. So how do we protect our territories? The people needs a clear affirmation from the government during this trying time. Our colossal neighbor is claiming that the entire West Phil Sea is theirs, basing it from a nine-dash-line or U-shaped indication, whereas our humble officials are saying it is ours, provided by UNCLOS rules. It seems to be a battle of a myth against an existing dictum. However, the point of the matter is, our huge neighbor will surely just ignore and disrespect the rules of the sea, and they will just create their own islands, invade more islands and own everything around and near their land mass. This maritime dispute proves that there is indeed boundless wealth beneath our seas that even our own neighbors become so frustrated to possess it. How interesting it is for the giant China to inch its way into the shoals and waters of what was once judged, “a small and impoverished Philippines”. Such great interest for our virgin waters is enough proof that truly, it is a paradox that our nation is opulent, but poor.

Saying this will start the World War 3? For me, it has already started a decade ago when our government disregarded the impending territorial disputes by saying it’s a matter between China and Vietnam alone. So look at us now, we are like a pot of gold that is being craved for possession by much affluent nations. Oh I almost forgot, Uncle Sam is backing us up; so does that make the Philippines strong? No. It just proves again that we are truly poor in terms of conviction, defense and international collaboration. I am a filipino and this WW3 fad will surely affect all of us whether we like it or not. That is why I am writing this, as my way of sharing my opinion and sentiment to the Philippine government.
